Arlene Slade, Secretary
Arlene began working at Bethany September 2006. Arlene has worked in administration and Bookkeeping for many years. She is a member of the Bethany Senior Choir. Arlene is married to Wayne and they have two children; Ceanne and Courtney. If you need to reach Arlene, you can reach at 596-6754 Tuesday to Friday,

Leslie Forward, B.A. (Ed), Dipl. School Resources, Organist and
Senior/Youth Choir Director
Leslie has been an active member of Bethany for many years. She serves on the Worship and Sacrament Committee. She joined
the staff in 2004 and has been very active with directing the choir and
organizing special music services. Along with a great love of music and
people, Leslie brings her experience as a retired teacher. Leslie is married
to Bruce and they have two sons: Brad (Lynn)and Jamie. Their grandchildren,
Mark, Noah and Spencer, are a source of much love and commitment.
Beverly Matthews, B.A., B. Ed, M. Div, Minister for Youth and Young Adult
Programming and Christian Development
'Rev. Bev, ' as she is affectionately known, joined Bethany United Church in 2002. She brings a
wealth of experience
and training to youth ministry and Christian development. As a trained
teacher as well as a clergy, she bring much energy to ministry with youth.
Having served as clergy with Epworth, Whitbourne, Nipper's Hr., Herring Neck
and Carmanville Pastoral Charges, she also brings experience on many
of the
facets of ministry. Besides a deep passion for the spiritual care of youth,
she also loves painting and reading. Beverly and her husband have four young
children: Austin, Adam, Stephanie and Andrew. If you are wishing info on

Stephen Matthews, B.A., Dipl. Law Enforcement, B.A., M. Div,
Minister for
Worship, Pastoral Care and Administration
Better known by the congregation as 'Rev. Stephen', much of his work involves working with others in
providing for the church's worship and pastoral care. Stephen served on the
Baie Verte, Herring Neck and Labrador City Pastoral Charges before arriving
in Carbonear in 2002. Stephen is very active in the community and larger
church. With a deep passion for learning through reading and listening,
Stephen believes that such passion and openness for learning must be present
when we engage in bible study and when we listen to God's spirit that comes
to us again and again to correct us and lead us in the ongoing ministry
began and being fulfilled by Jesus Christ. Stephen also leads in the Tuesday
Morning Bible Study. In January 2006, the bible study group began study of 1
Corinthians after having studied Romans and Revelation before. A great gift
from God has been Beverly, his spouse and their four children: Andrew,

Wayne Parsons, Caretaker and Cemetery Care
Wayne is an active member in the Men's Club and has been in the position of caretaker for nine years.
Besides his normal duties of insuring that the church is extremely well
cleaned and prepared for worship services and the various groups that
utilize our church building, he also operates the church sound system. Wayne
is an integral member of our dedicated staff. Wayne is married to Hazel and
they have one daughter, Dawn, who is a delight in their life.
